The negotiation script writes what to say to a specific merchant to get a lower price, using your own history as leverage.
What goes into it
- How long you have been a customer and total spend with them.
- Every price increase you have absorbed, with dates and amounts.
- The merchant's known retention behaviour and typical offers.
- Competitor pricing where known.
What comes out
- An opening line that states the ask clearly.
- Supporting facts in the order that works best.
- Responses to the three most common pushbacks.
- A defined walk-away position so you know when to stop.
Using it
- Written channels beat phone lines: they are faster and leave a record.
- Ask once, clearly, then stop talking. Retention agents fill silence with offers.
- Be genuinely willing to cancel — that is what gives the ask force.
- Get any agreed discount confirmed in writing, with its duration.
After the call
Record the outcome on the subscription. Confirmed savings are booked to the savings ledger, and if the discount is time-limited Flowarden reminds you before it expires.
If it does not work
Escalate to Concierge, or cancel and re-subscribe later on a new-customer rate if the merchant allows it.
