Connecting your bank

Last updated 25 August 2026

Bank connections are established through a regulated aggregation provider. Flowarden never sees or stores your banking credentials.

What happens when you connect

1. You choose your institution and authenticate inside the provider's secure window.

2. Your bank issues a read-only access token scoped to transaction and balance data.

3. The token is stored encrypted and used only to fetch transactions.

4. Historical transactions are pulled and detection runs over them.

What Flowarden can and cannot do

- Can: read transaction descriptions, amounts, dates, and account metadata.

- Cannot: initiate payments, move money, change your bank details, or see your login credentials.

Link the current accounts and credit cards that pay for subscriptions. Mortgage, savings, and investment accounts add noise without adding value — you can deselect them during the connection flow.

Common connection problems

- Multi-factor prompts must be completed within the provider window; restart the flow if it times out.

- Business or joint accounts occasionally require the primary account holder to authorise.

- Unsupported institutions can be tracked manually until support is added.

Disconnecting

Removing a connection revokes the access token immediately and stops all future syncing. You choose whether to keep the imported history or delete it along with the connection.
