Blocking unwanted charges

Last updated 25 August 2026

Unwanted charges fall into three groups, and each has a different remedy.

1. Trial conversions

Prevented before they happen with Trial Shield, trial expiry alerts, and Auto-Pilot rules that flag any trial approaching its end date.

2. Post-cancellation charges

Flowarden watches for charges after a subscription is marked cancelled and flags them immediately. Contact the merchant with your cancellation reference first — most reverse it. If they refuse, escalate to your bank.

3. Charges you no longer recognise

Open the subscription, review the full charge history and merchant details, and check whether the descriptor belongs to a parent company with a different trading name. A large share of "unknown" charges are legitimate services billing under an unfamiliar name.

Escalating to your bank

When a merchant will not resolve it:

1. Gather evidence — cancellation confirmation, dates, amounts, correspondence.

2. Ask your bank to stop future payments on that mandate.

3. Raise a dispute or chargeback for charges already taken.

What Flowarden cannot do

Flowarden's bank connections are read-only. We cannot block a charge at your bank, cancel a mandate on your behalf, or reverse a payment. We surface the charge, evidence, and route — the instruction to your bank has to come from you.
